Lokayukta

  • Lokayukta is a quasi -  judicial institution in Haryana. Haryana Lokayukta Act was passed in /but it was cancelled by the then Governor Mahavir Prasad on 19th September, 1999.
  • On 27th January, 2002, the Haryana Lokayukta Act, 2002 came into force.
  • The tenure of Lokayukta is 5 years and he is appointed by the Governor.
  • Pritam Pal Singh was the first Lokayukta of Haryana appointed in 2011.
  • Haryana Lokayukta has the right to hear and esquire about the complaints made against Chief Minister, members of State Legislative Assembly, Head and Deputy Head of Municipal Councils and Committees, Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Municipal Corporations, Officers of Panchayati Raj institution, Chancellor and Vice-chancellor of Universities, etc.
  • State Vigilance Bureau

  • In Haryana, Special Inquiry Agency was set up in June 1967. In the year 1978, the name of Special Inquiry Agency changed to State Vigilance Bureau.
  • It is headed by State Vigilance Officer at stare level and Divisional Vigilance officer and District Vigilance Officer at division and district level, respectively.
